As I think about my final portfolio for the Floridian
Stories assignment, I think about compiling a group of images depicting aspects
of Florida that have been an essential part of my life until now, in the unique
way that I see them. I want to capture the atmosphere of places that have been
important to my family and I during my childhood. I want to capture the
surroundings of my home, in Miami and here in Gainesville, that most people do
not pay attention to. I like to look in the details and examine scenes in a
different way than the cursory glance most people give their surroundings. Not
only exhibiting the beauty of what’s around me, I also have an interest in
capturing photographs of strangers, as well as people I know, In their natural
habitat. Capturing how they live in and interact with their environment. What
makes them unique and how the Floridian neighborhood they live in contributes
to that. Finally, I would like to make an effort to travel to places in Florida
that I have yet to see, in order to capture a general ambiance of Florida and
analyze how each diverse location with its unique inhabitants connects to one
another.
