Dreezy - Artist Research

The artist I chose to do research on is Richard Bickel. He has a lot of concepts behind his work but I"m focusing on his photography of my hometown. He live in my home town Apalachicola and he also has his own gallery there. Richard Bickel's insightful photographs show us the Old Florida no one knows. Apalachicola Bay and its people - fishers and shrimpers, oyster shuckers and boat builders. Here is his website. I believe his concept is very similar to mine and I look to hime for inspiration. Of course my photos aren't as amazing as his but here are a few below to give you an idea of him as an artist. Bickel has a best-selling photo book and his work has appeared in the NY Times. His work shows the side of Florida that no one sees specifically in Apalachicola. This is exactly what I originally wanted to do. I've been expanding my concept to also show a deeper message or the lack of sustainability and conservation. I want the view to question what we a doing to my beautiful town. Bickel work is awesome and it continues to inspire me.
